Starfish Plaque

I worked on another project (that I'm not sure if I like yet) and found myself with some leftover textured paint, I figured I should use it up. My mind immediately went to my starfish plaque:
It had quite a few scratches surrounding the starfish and on the edges, which made it look like a beat up plaque, but most beachy decor looks charming with a little distress work. So why wasn't this charming? When I brought it home I planned to sand and paint the area around the starfish with some strong turquoise. But now, with my leftover paint I didn't want to waste.....maybe it would look just weathered enough if it had some oomph to it? Maybe.

I could always sand it down again and repaint, right?

After application of said oomph.
I really like it! That could just be my laziness talking, but I think I really do like the faded, textured wash of color.
Well, that was easy.

Now all I need to do is slowly collect some other pieces to create a vignette! Oh no, I'm dreaming of my next thrifting trip!
I'm hoping to keep creating things that fit our master bedroom inspiration.
